What are folding arm awnings?
Folding arm awnings open and close with a distinctive folding construction. This gives you flexible shade at your window, with an appearance that perfectly suits classic and characterful facades. This model is especially suitable when you want to block sunlight without a modern screen on the facade. STERK advises on the appropriate size and material.
Maintenance and lifespan of folding-arm awnings
With folding arm awnings, it's important that the moving parts continue to work smoothly. Keep the fabric and frame clean, remove dirt from hinge points, and allow the fabric to dry before the awning remains closed for an extended period. If you notice that the awning closes crookedly or moves stiffly, STERK can inspect and adjust the model.
Standard 5-year warranty on folding awning canopies
If you have your fold-out awnings supplied and installed by STERK, you automatically receive a 5-year warranty on the product and installation. We measure on-site, discuss the desired look and technical possibilities, and install everything with our own technicians. This ensures the end result is neat, safe, and perfectly suited to your facade.
Frequently Asked Questions about folding arm awnings
What is a drop-arm awning?
A folding arm awning is an awning that unfolds, providing flexible shade for windows or facades. The model has the recognizable appearance of an awning, but offers more movement than a fixed canopy. This makes it suitable for situations where you want to be able to adjust the shade.
When do you choose a folding-arm awning?
You choose a drop-arm awning when you want more control over light and shade than with a compact fixed canopy. If you prefer a calmer, more compact model, then a canopy awning might be a better fit.
Is a folding arm awning suitable for tall windows?
That's possible, but then operation becomes extra important. With high windows, you don't want to have the hassle of turning or reaching daily. We therefore look at mounting height, operating location, and potentially electric operation, so that the screen is pleasant to use in practice.
Can a folding-arm awning be operated electrically?
In many situations, this is possible, depending on the design and installation. Electric operation is particularly useful if the awning is opened and closed frequently. Read more about electric awnings.
What does a retractable awning cost?
The costs depend on size, material, fabric, operation, and installation. Because a folding model works differently from a compact model, accurate measurements are important. STERK will inspect your facade and provide a clear quote with no hidden charges.
Can a retractable awning be custom-made?
Yes, especially with a folding awning, customisation is important for the correct movement and appearance. Width, projection and mounting points must be correct. You can read more about customisation at custom-made awnings.
Can a folding arm awning fit in anthracite?
Yes, anthracite can give a folding arm awning a calm and modern look. This works especially well with dark window frames or a sleek facade. Also check out the possibilities for anthracite awnings.
Which material is suitable for a folding model?
That depends on the desired look and the maintenance you want. A low-maintenance choice can be interesting when the awning needs to stay neat for years. You can find more about this at aluminium awnings.
